So it definitely felt more like winter this weekend, but at least the sun was shining (for the most part). I kicked off my weekend with my first adult beverage in just about fourteen months! Well deserved, if I do say so myself. ;)
Saturday morning, Ellie and I made those two ingredient pumpkin muffins that are all over Pinterest (1 box yellow cake mix + 1 15 oz can pumpkin, bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes). They're good, but taste more like yellow cake than anything - just a very subtle pumpkin flavor. I was a little disappointed that the tops didn't get crunchy, despite cooking them over 5 minutes longer than the recipe says to. Isprinkled doused them with powdered sugar when they came out of the oven. Ellie was super helpful, as you can probably imagine. :)

In the afternoon, I went to a country wine festival with my mom and sister, and we met up with my aunt and uncle there. I'm not too big on red wine, but there were a bunch of different wines to taste and I found a few that I liked. Red wine in sangria? Yes. Red wine alone? Not so much. ;) There was a band playing a lot of popular country songs and they were pretty good! The highlight though was definitely my mom riding the mechanical bull. It's the only photo I got from the outing, but I don't think there's really any topping that anyway.

On Sunday morning, we got our first ever family photos taken! Our photographer, Adrienne Scott, was super sweet and recommended a beautiful location near our hometowns to take them. It was FREEZING - the thermometer in my car said 32 degrees when we got there! I will probably not be winning mom of the year award not dressing my child in a jacket, but in my defense she had two layers and a vest on, plus we had her wrapped up in a blanket for good portion of the shoot... Anyway, Ellie decided she was all set about halfway through, but I can't wait to see photos anyway! The foliage was gorgeous, and we got to take a trip down memory lane, driving all around our old stomping grounds. After our photo sesh, we went to Tyler's parents house to hang out for the afternoon and there were definitely snow flurries flying around outside the windows! It's way too early for all that.

This morning, I was woken up at 5:45 by punch to the eye socket and a cat sitting on my head, meowing for treats. I also have a scratch on my face that was definitely not there when I went to bed - fur or human baby? We may never know.
Happy Monday! ;)
Your Mom on the mechanical bull is the best!! She is so cute haha. & I love Ellie's little dress. Can't wait to see your family pics!!
ReplyDeleteHaha she's such a goof!! Thank you, I can't wait either! :) I'm sure they'll involve lots of blank baby stares, but you know how that goes ;)
